Mr Lee Humphreys is a Consultant Upper GI and Bariatric Surgeon at Derriford Hospital, Plymouth. He performs the full range of emergency and elective upper GI surgery including laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, laparoscopic gastric bypass, oesophagectomy, gastrectomy, gallbladder surgery, endoscopy, hernia surgery and anti-reflux surgery. All surgical procedures are performed using the laparoscopic (key hole) approach where appropriate.
He graduated from University College London medical school in 2000. He undertook basic and higher surgical training in the South West of England. He has worked at the Oesophagogastric cancer units at the Bristol Royal Infirmary and Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. He has had Bariatric surgical training at the units in Bristol and Taunton and completed a 12 month Bariatric fellowship in Auckland, New Zealand.
He also works as a Senior Racecourse Medical Officer at Cheltenham Racecourse and has an interest in pre-hospital trauma care and equestrian related trauma. His professional memberships include the Association of Upper GI Surgeons (AUGIS) and the British Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society (BOMSS).
